The Big Bowel Movement!

Emily Saw 17th October 2021

Story

October 22nd 2023 will be the 3rd annual Big Bowel Movement. With your help Emily has already raised almost £25,000 for Bowel Cancer UK (BCUK) and this year we would like to help her over that £25K mark to fund life-saving research and reduce the impact of bowel cancer. It is the 2nd biggest cancer killer and the 4th most common cancer in the UK. Almost 43,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year-that’s a new diagnosis every 15 minutes and, worryingly, it is becoming more prevalent in younger people.

BCUK plays a pivotal role in supporting people affected by bowel cancer; campaigning for early diagnosis and access to the best treatment and care, funding research and educating health professionals. With early detection, effective treatment and continued support we hope for the best possible outcome for patients and we hope that you will join us on this mission.

The Big Bowel Movement was founded in memory of a dear friend, Karl Sears, who passed in 2018. We ask participants to walk/run/swim/cycle or use any self-propelled movement to cover as large a distance as possible to raise money for BCUK. Sponsorship is encouraged, whether this be per mile or total distance covered. Please add your small donation to take part on this page. There is the option to contribute a little bit more if you opt to purchase an event T-shirt. These cost £10 for adults and £5 for kids and can be used in the future for other Big Bowel Movement events, so worth the investment! To order yours, just email us at thebigbowelmovement@gmail.com

All distances must be completed by 6pm on Sunday October 22nd. Please upload a photo of you (or the tool used to track your distance) to Instagram and tag @the_big_bowel_movement to let us know how far you travelled. If you do not use social media then please email
