The Sears family is walking for #TeamKarl

Linda Studd 14th July 2019

Story

In July 2017 Karl was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. Previously young, fit and healthy he faced his disease with courage and determination. He died in March 2018, aged just 30 years old.

This year we're all taking part in Walk Together in his memory to raise awareness of bowel cancer in the young and raise money to help other sufferers of this unforgiving disease. All donations will help fund research and provide support to others facing  a future living with bowel cancer. Every penny earned will help ensure that Karl has a legacy we know he'd be proud of #TeamKarl #NeverTooYoung

Well everyone, we did it! Team Karl were blessed with super weather. Over 500 people donned the teal T-shirts to walk the Thames and I feel so honoured that we were part of that. Thank you so much to all 49 (so far) people who have sponsored us, as well as all the wonderful people who have put their loose change in our box at The Legion in Brightlingsea. You're helping fight one of the most diagnosed cancers in the country.

My 'Walking for' sign is written, safety pins affixed, T shirt neatly laid out ready for Saturday morning. I'd say all set!

Fundraising is going pretty well, but always room for improvement. The T-shirts fit and I'm walking every day to prepare. Dad's getting over a medical procedure on his foot, but is determined to be fit enough to get through the day. Really looking forward to the day and now just praying for some warm sunshine.

My fundraising pack arrived today, with T-shirts and shoe laces for mama bear, papa bear and me. Nessy's received hers too, and Lee and Vikki are officially signed up. Today's been a good day!
